DoorBird is a German-engineered IP video door station that combines a camera, two-way intercom, and access control (keypad, RFID, and app unlock) in one weatherproof unit. It runs over your network, so you answer the gate and let visitors in from your smartphone whether you are home or across the country.

DoorBird is the system we recommend for high-end residential gates and doors where design and smart-home integration matter. It pairs cleanly with electric strikes, magnetic locks, and existing gate operators, and it works with Apple HomeKit, Google Home, and Alexa. Below is what it does, the models we install, how the install works, and how it compares to the other systems on our access control page.

The right model depends on your entry type and whether you need keypad or RFID at the gate. Not sure which one fits? We match it to your property and quote it for you.

We install DoorBird video intercoms for homes, estates, HOAs, and offices across San Jose, the Peninsula, and the South Bay, including Palo Alto, Mountain View, Los Altos, Sunnyvale, and Fremont.

    Frequently asked questions

Which DoorBird model is right for my property?
The D2101V is a video door station for a single gate or door, the D2101KV adds a built-in keypad and RFID for coded entry, the D1101KH is a durable keypad station for high-traffic doorways, and the D1812 bridges to DoorKing and legacy access hardware for retrofits. We match the model to your entry.
Can I upgrade my DoorKing 1812 without replacing the whole system?
Yes. The DoorBird D1812 is built to replace the faceplate of a DoorKing 1812 Classic or Plus (1871-010 or 1970-010), flush or surface mount, so we reuse your existing housing and wiring. You keep the box in the wall and gain a modern HD video intercom with app unlocking, RFID, and smartphone calls, usually in a single visit. We do these upgrades for homeowners, estates, and HOAs across the Bay Area.
Does DoorBird need internet at the gate?
Yes. DoorBird is an IP device and needs a network connection by wired Ethernet or Wi-Fi. If the gate has no internet nearby, a cellular system like CellGate is usually a better fit, and we can advise on that.
Can I unlock the gate from anywhere?
Yes. As long as your phone has a data or Wi-Fi connection, you can see, talk to, and let in visitors from anywhere through the DoorBird app.
Does DoorBird work with Apple HomeKit?
Yes. DoorBird supports Apple HomeKit on compatible firmware, plus Google Home and Amazon Alexa, so you can view and unlock by voice or automation.
How much does DoorBird installation cost?
It depends on the model, the wiring run, and how it ties into your gate. Most residential video intercom installs fall in the four-figure range. We give a free written quote after a quick site assessment.
