Danville limits front-yard fences and even hedges to 3.5 feet. Under Danville Municipal Code Section 32-22.11, a fence, gate, or hedge in the primary front yard setback may not exceed 3.5 feet; side and rear fences may reach 6 feet, or 7 feet when the top foot is open lattice, and corner lots must clear the sight distance triangle in Section 32-22.12. A secondary front yard allows 6 feet only when the fence sits at least 5 feet back from the right of way with landscaping on the street side.
